Description:     
The Test Engineering Supervisor oversees the designs, specifies, and procures equipment to test products, including software, mechanical and electrical parameters as required for each product line.  The supervisor will also provide technical support for production test personnel and assist with problem solving and root cause failure analysis to ensure continuous improvement of the quality management system.  The Test Engineering Supervisor ensures that all tasks are completed in accordance with company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Supervise, prioritize, and delegate work assignments to test engineering staff.
  • Manage resources to ensure ongoing improvement of quality control processes and the incorporation of safety policies and practices. 
  • Participate in planning meetings and estimates of development and test time requirements for new products, lead the production test solution architecture and test plans, and supervise the staff to ensure the test solution will support cost effective production.
  • Manage the development of accurate test specifications.   Define and implement test software and hardware architecture strategy to support scalability and serviceability of the test platforms.
  • Supervise the preparation of test procedures from product design specifications.  Ensure effective and timely release of test solutions to production.  Create documentation of test fixtures, theory of operation, specifications, etc.
  • Budget and coordinate the purchasing of all related hardware and software solutions.  Approve purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Lead cross-discipline (mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and quality) technical team for continued improvements in test and facilities electrical infrastructure.
  • Interact with vendors on test and quality issues, ensuring a satisfactory resolution.
  • Oversee associates assisting in test engineering functions, delegating work assignments and reviewing work performed.
  • Assist in the training of the workforce and administration on the quality system components. 
  • Participate on cross functional teams to ensure continued ongoing improvement of processes, methods, and quality while reducing cost. 
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.  Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements:    
QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES: The Employee shall be competent in:
  • QM Manual (QM-QLTYMANUAL) 
    • Quality Policy 
    • Quality Metrics
    • Quality Procedures in accordance to F-ISODEPTTR
  • Understanding the individuals responsibility in their contribution to these metrics

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related engineering major and four to six years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Requires a valid driver’s license.  

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Perform failure analysis on returned components, parts, etc.  Interact with vendors on XFER/design issues.  Requires the ability to operate a variety of precision electronic testing devices, a variety of precision measuring devices, and small hand and power tools.  Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and the job related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.
